I am a biologist with over twenty years of experience in coastal-marine environments in Mexico. I have participated in more than 20 projects, providing science-based recommendations for the conservation and management of marine resources in Mexican oceans.
Some of my work has resulted in the establishment of 2000 hectares of community marine reserves in the Baja California Peninsula, 1.3 million hectares in the Gulf of Mexico, and an impact on Mexican marine policies.
I have extensive experience collaborating with coastal communities, national and international NGOs, government agencies, and academic groups. Currently, I serve as an honorary advisor to the National Institute of Fisheries and Aquaculture, a core member of an academic team studying Climate Change and Coastal Resilience in Mexico, a member of the Collective Impact Group for Mexican Fishing and Aquaculture.
